Summary: ISWAN is an international organisation and UK-registered charity which promotes and supports the welfare of seafarers on a worldwide basis.

ISWAN works to facilitate welfare services internationally for seafarers in a number of ways, including supporting the development of port welfare committees through its International Port Welfare Partnership (IPWP) Programme, research to further improve seafarers' lives and by producing & distributing health information tailored specifically to seafarers.

ISWAN also provides direct support to seafarers and their families through SeafarerHelp (a free, multilingual helpline/referral service available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year) and a Regional Programme located in India, the Philippines and Nigeria. ISWAN also administers a number of relief funds for seafarers and their families in need.

ISWAN is a membership organisation with the International Chamber of Shipping, International Transport Workers' Federation and International Christian Maritime Association as key members.
