Summary: Aberdeen Seafarers Centre has been open for well over 8 years now and it has its roots in the vision of Port Chaplain, Howard Drysdale who, very quickly after taking up his post in June 2001 as the Sailors’ Society’s Chaplain based in Aberdeen, realised that there was a need for a safe haven for the 100,000 seafarers that visited the port each year.

A limited company was set up in September 2008 and a group of trustees oversaw the dream come to fruition on the 19th December 2011.

It was a long haul, but the tenacity to see the vision through has seen the establishment of a great facility where all seafarers, active, retired and from all over the world are given a warm welcome. All facilities are free to seafarers and the centre provides a social-focus who local seafarers to get together.  Aberdeen Seafarers' Centre - where seafarers are blessed.
